Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common procurement and engineering questions about hook and loop material planning, roll conversion, carton packing, estimate accuracy, purchasing use, and how to request Walonium support.

What is a Hook & Loop Requirement Calculator?

A Hook & Loop Requirement Calculator is a free engineering tool that estimates how much hook and loop tape material (in metres), how many rolls, how many cartons, and how many loose rolls you need for a production run. Walonium Textile's calculator uses standard 25 m roll lengths and official packing schedules so procurement teams, manufacturers, OEMs, and exporters can plan requirements before requesting a quotation.

Who should use this calculator?

This calculator is designed for procurement managers, production planners, product engineers, OEM buyers, contract manufacturers, and export sourcing teams who need defensible hook and loop quantity estimates before purchasing. It is especially useful when specifying products from the Walonium hook & loop range for apparel, medical, automotive, industrial, or packaging applications.

How is material requirement calculated?

Total material (metres) is calculated as Quantity per product × Monthly production quantity. Enter the metres of hook or loop tape required for one finished unit, then multiply by your planned production volume for the period.

How are roll quantities calculated?

Roll quantities are calculated by dividing total material required by the standard Walonium roll length of 25 metres, then rounding up to the next whole roll. For example, 120 m of material requires 5 rolls (120 ÷ 25 = 4.8, rounded up to 5 rolls).

What roll length does Walonium use?

All calculator results use a standard Walonium roll length of 25 metres. This applies consistently across supported product groups and widths in the packing master.

How are carton quantities estimated?

Required rolls are divided by the rolls per carton for your selected product and width, based on Walonium packing standards. The result is rounded down to whole cartons. Any remaining rolls are shown separately as loose rolls.

How accurate are these estimates?

Estimates are based on Walonium standard packing configurations, 25 m roll lengths, and the product and width you select. They are engineering-grade planning figures suitable for procurement review, internal approval, and RFQ preparation. Final quantities may vary depending on product specifications, application requirements, and production tolerances.

Can I use these estimates for purchasing?

Yes. Calculator results are intended to support purchasing decisions, budget planning, and manufacturing RFQ preparation. Download the requirement summary for internal approval, then submit a Manufacturing RFQ to Walonium Textile for confirmed pricing, lead times, and production recommendations.

Can I calculate multiple products?

Each calculation covers one product, width, and configuration at a time. To plan multiple SKUs, complete a calculation, download or submit your RFQ, then reset the calculator for the next product.

How do I request engineering support or a quotation?

After generating a requirement, review the engineering summary and use Request Manufacturing RFQ to submit your details to Walonium Textile. You can also download a printable requirement summary for internal approval. For technical guidance on product selection, specifications, or export planning, contact the engineering team.
